Nick Mamatas vs Spinrad

(Or, Why Nick Mamatas Rocks.) Particularly because of his rebuttal on behalf of the civilised world against Spinrad’s cack-handed approach to discussing World SF.

Instead, it’s a meandering display of fundamental ignorance about what we call “world science fiction.”… The problem is that Spinrad is just making an appeal to ignorance. He’s not familiar with the many writers of world SF, so he assumes they do not exist.

Follow the links! Gape at Spinrad’s casual racism!

For any UK readers unfamiliar with Nick, he also maintains a hugely entertaining blog; my recent favourite post was his review of Avatar. Dude is also a fine writer too.

Thanks Mark, interesting kerfuffle, I wonder what Mike Resnick reckons to this article?
And the review of Avatar was very funny, hit the nail on the head for me as I really didn’t like it for pretty much the same reasons!
