gardening & foraging

A pasta bowl full of blackcurrants (alongside a cup, for scale). This was a decent crop this year from just the one bush, despite some weird wilting leaf thing it seemed to suffer from a few months ago.

Now we just need to work out what to do with them all. Any suggestions?

Jam mebbe? Homemade organic Ribena? Some kind of liqueur?

By the way Mark, have you ever thought about growing elderflower? A friend of mine used to brew a champagne of sorts out of them, and it actually tasted very nice.

We’ve got quite a bit of jam at the moment. Liqueur sounds interesting…

The thing is with elderflower/berries is that they tend to grow everywhere anyway! It’s more a foraging crop, I reckon – steal ones that are out there already… 🙂 I like the idea of making elderflower champagne though.
