On Pinterest

So, I’m on Pinterest now. I’m a bit of a late-comer, but I really like its layout. It’s ideal for being a scrapbook (I guess that’s what it is anyway), but that’s a nice form of micro-blogging. I find it a little more personal than Twitter, and more interesting by a long way than the glorified RSS feed of an author Facebook page (useful, admittedly, for those who aren’t big bloggers). It’s also far less about author self-promotion, which is perversely my kind of social network, and more about collecting ideas.

  1. I also like the fact that “pins” are given suitable attribution if you use their bookmarklet in a browser, so you can go to the source of something and read associated article if applicable.

  2. Yes, it’s quite a clever little set-up. I’d be intrigued to see if its number of users is growing as quick as other social networks.
